Credits & Licenses

The artists and creators whose work helps give Vindicator its voice and silhouette.

The galaxy is assembled from original Vindicator work and carefully selected assets whose creators chose to share them. These are the credits that travel with every build. CC0 sources are listed for provenance even though the license asks nothing in return; the CC-BY and MIT sources must be named wherever the build goes.

Music

  • “Miami Vice” — Music by Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio. The gameplay bed. Royalty-free / copyright-safe, free for commercial use with credit. Source: https://whitebataudio.com
  • “SPACE 3 title song” — tracker module from The Mod Archive (#69599, .s3m format). Converted to Ogg Vorbis for engine playback. Source: https://modarchive.org/
  • “space 12” — Pierrick. Tracker module from The Mod Archive (#147849, .xm format). Converted to Ogg Vorbis for engine playback. Source: https://modarchive.org/

Ship & station art

  • Foozle “Void” packs — foozlecc.itch.io. The player’s animated hull, the raider and militia fleet hulls (Kla’ed, Nairan), and the Nautolan showcase fleet in the gallery. Stations and the civilian freight hulls are Vindicator-original art. CC0. Source: https://foozlecc.itch.io/
  • Tiny Spaceships by DisruptorArt. The independent Prospector and Salvager Tug hulls use frames derived from this pack, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. Source: https://disruptorart.itch.io/tiny-ships-free-spaceships

The wreckage hulks in the salvage graveyard are Vindicator-original (AI-assisted) sprites, not third-party art.

  • Space Shooter - Ship Constructor by anim86. Selected gun mounts, cannon rounds, missiles, and torpedoes. Credited use from the author’s game-asset constructor pack. Source: https://anim86.itch.io/space-shooter-ship-constructor

Shaders

  • PixelPlanets by Deep-Fold. The asteroid shader (the planets, stars, and black holes are Vindicator originals — see Celestial Bodies). MIT. Source: https://github.com/Deep-Fold/PixelPlanets
  • PixelSpace by Deep-Fold. The mid-layer starfield shader behind every system sky. MIT. Source: https://github.com/Deep-Fold/PixelSpace
  • Deep Space Shader by Xeraesh. The nebula haze layer behind every system sky. MIT. Source: https://godotshaders.com/shader/deep-space-shader/
  • VFX Frame Interpolator (with Gradient Tint) by EmberNoGlow (2026-03-30). Stargate animation adapts its current/next frame sampling and quadratic ease, but not its gradient tint, so the full-colour ring art is preserved. Shader code CC0. Module & item icons

  • game-icons.net — icons by Lorc, Delapouite, sbed, Quoting, and Faithtoken. The module glyph icons (weapons, engines, tweaks, drones) shown on grid inventory cells, the arena palette, and tooltip cards; and the commodity/item silhouette set (minerals, components, salvage, module families, drone crates) used by the cargo and market readouts. The exotic-salvage and drone-role marks are Vindicator composites assembled from these sources — per-file attribution lives beside the assets in assets/icons/item_icons/LICENSE.txt. Licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0. Source: https://game-icons.net

Sound & UI

  • “Strange Sweeping Synth Horn 3” by SomeUsername0. Edited into the gateway-fling release cue. Creative Commons Zero 1.0 (CC0). Source: https://freesound.org/people/SomeUsername0/sounds/846357/
  • Kenney — kenney.nl. Sci-fi sound effects (explosions, dock clunk, warp whoosh, engine loop, UI click, energy blasts, energy impacts). CC0. Source: https://kenney.nl The HUD and menu graphics are Vindicator-original: panels, buttons and keycap prompts are drawn by the interface itself in the overlay’s own panel language, not textured from a pack.
  • rubberduck — the base cutting/mechanical textures behind the mining and salvage tool loops (30 CC0 SFX Loops, OpenGameArt). CC0. Source: https://opengameart.org/content/30-cc0-sfx-loops

All under the SIL Open Font License; the full license texts travel with the fonts in the build.

Engine

  • Godot Engine — the engine this runs in, and the runtime for every shader and scene above. MIT. Source: https://godotengine.org

CC0 assets do not require attribution, but their provenance and the complete MIT/OFL/Creative Commons notices remain beside the source assets in the project distribution.
